Metaverse

Dear Friends,
I take pride in making things very simple. However, this concept can be hard to explain so please watch the short videos that I have attached.
Last Thursday, Mark Zuckerberg gave a keynote address that will go down in history. He announced that Facebook will be changing the name to “Meta” in honor of pursuing the Metaverse.

Microsoft announced on Tuesday that they will be launching a 2022 Metaverse for the office space.
Nike announced on Tuesday that they are relentlessly pursuing the ability to provide and protect their product in the new virtual era. How are they doing this? Their legal team has filed 7 patents for the virtual world.
Yes, you read that right. Nike, a $265 Billion Company, is working relentlessly to protect their Intellectual Property so they can launch and start selling virtually clothing, headwear, shoes, in online and virtual worlds.
How would they do this? Take a look at the Avatars in those two videos. Nike wants every Avatar wearing Nike products. Guess what? They won’t be the only clothing company making these moves.

This video of Adobe is a great example of the possibilities of the Metaverse. It starts at 2:00, and I highly suggest watching this.
What is a Metaverse?
Google the term metaverse and you’ll find several definitions. Wikipedia defines it as a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space, including the sum of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, and the Internet.
The concept was coined by author Neal Stephenson in the 1992 science fiction novel "Snow Crash".
In Matt Allen terms, the metaverse refers to the merging of physical, augmented, and virtual reality in a shared online space where people work, play, and socialize.
You can call it the metaverse, the mirror world, the AR Cloud, the Magicverse, the Spatial internet, or Live Maps, but one thing is for certain, it’s coming and it’s a big deal.
What is Virtual Reality?
Virtual Reality is the use of technology to put a user into a simulated environment. A great explanation of this is video games.
When you turn on an X-box, you are sitting in front of a computer screen. With virtual reality, it allows the user to immerse themselves inside the virtual world.
As the technology grows, the user will be able to experience not only hearing and vision, but they will be able to experience physical touch and smell things.
As crazy as this sounds, there has been an arms race of Venture Capital money since 2015 preparing for this. This is not a new concept.
What is Augmented Reality?
Do you remember the Pokemon Go mania? This was the first example of Augmented Reality going mainstream. However, this technology was very bad (great at the time) in the grand scheme of Augmented Reality.
Augmented Reality is by far my favorite of the two.
Augmented Reality simulates artificial objects in the real world using holograms.
Did you know that Apple plans to stop making the Iphone by the year 2035? Most experts in the tech industry believe that phones will be a thing of the past due to Augumented Reality.
Keep in mind: Virtual World is the Avatars in the meta verse. Augmented Reality is for the real world.
NFT
You have probably heard about the NFT craze recently.
The funniest part is that 99% of people have absolutely no clue what they are buying and why. The haters think about it as a simple JPEG. However, they couldn’t be more farther from the truth.
Think about it like this:
Let’s just agree that the virtual world that Mark Zuckerberg (and many other experts) talks about is going to happen.
What type of objects will make up the virtual world?
You got it. NFT’s.
NFT’s will make up a huge part of the virtual world, and this is why you have billionaires buying them. Always follow the smart money.
Matt Allen’s Take
I think everyone can all agree about the possible negatives of this. I am the first person that will say this. With that being said, you have to remember in 1929, their was a national crisis because the radio was starting to come in households.
20 years later, the same people called a television the devil.
The easy answer is to say, I am not worried about the metaverse or it will not affect me. However, if you were alive, you probably said that about e-mail and the internet.
Watch the today’s show blast the internet and talk about not needing it.

You probably followed that up by saying that you don’t need a smartphone. You might of even waited for as long as you could because you were hardheaded.
In 2003, Forbes blasted Smartphones and said that no-one would ever need them. 18 years later, they were sadly mistaken.
In the case of technology innovation, it is not if but when. It is important that you stay on top of the new technology that is coming for multiple reasons.
You might of missed out on investing in the dot com era, you might of missed out on investing in the app era, you might of missed out investing in crypto, but you have another chance over the next decade by figuring out the best investments for web 3.0.
If you are in business, you should be figuring out yesterday, how you can implement NFT’s, the metaverse, and vr/ar into building your brand, profiting, and most importantly not getting left behind.
Weather we like it or not, VR/AR will change every industry over the next decade.
Speech
Please watch the entire keynote by Zuck when you have time. You are going to be truly mind blown.

I hope that I did a decent job explaining the very basics of this new world.
Thank you and have a great week!
